The location
Tequila is a small town in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, located about 65 km northwest of Guadalajara. It is known for its rich cultural heritage and for being the birthplace of Mexico's national drink, tequila.
Tequila production has been a significant part of the town's history and culture for more than two centuries. The agave plant, which is used to make tequila, has been cultivated in the region for thousands of years by the indigenous people. However, it was not until the Spanish arrived in the 16th century that the process of distilling agave into tequila was developed.
Today, the town of Tequila is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is home to many famous tequila distilleries.
